What happened next?
During the accident around Tauranga Bay. (Rena the Ship) Bow Crashed a the reef and all the oil spill out everywhere around the ship. Lots of Local people were left with lots of questions, (Would toxins in the oil affect marine life?). Scientists research the impacts on marine life to help local people find their answer.
What did the research team find?
The scientist collected data thousands of samples  Of kai Moana.  There was a lot of Plankton and algae in the ocean going into the seafood. Scientists monitored the ocean to see if mussels were alright for humans to eat it.
Because the mussels are infected.

Charlie, Telesia, And Pele Rumbling Ratios 2

 Rumbling Ratios

           We are learning to use multiplication and division to solve proportion and ratios problems.

Multiplication and Division Practice.

Work these problems out in your mind and discuss your strategies with your group. Show a couple of strategies below, but the rest of the questions can just be answered

  1. 29 x 20 =508 2.   33 x 15 = 495 3.   76 x 24 = 1824 4.   65 x 17 =1105

     5.    72 x 15 = 1080 6.   33 x 16 =528 7.   34 x 31 =1050 8.   42 x 26 =1092

     9.   90 ÷ 30 =3            10.   280 ÷ 40  = 7           11.   300 ÷ 12 =25 12.   625 ÷ 25 =25

Word problem of the week:
For every 8 girls in a school, there are 12 boys. If there are 60 students in the school, how many girls and boys are there in the school?36 boys and 24 girls

Wicked word problems!

Solve these problems. Write down your strategies - work with a group!

  1. Davarni  has 120 lollies to share between some  friends. How many lollies would each friend get if there were 8 altogether? What if there were 16 or 24 people?15 & 7.5 &  5

2. 7 people collected some  shells from the beach. if they shared  the shells   equally among themselves, how many shells would each one get if they each collected 49 shells?  7

3. Marcelino shared 160 marbles equally among some of his friends. How many friends could he share them with if they each got an equal number of marbles?8, 4, 2, 10

4. Simeon delivered 196 Newspaper to 7 local dairies.  Each dairy got 7 more newspaper then the other dairy. How many newspaper did they each get? 28

5.  Winnie shared 600 apples evenly among 25 students in Room 8. How many apples did each student get? 24
600 Apples
25 student
Room 8
600 / 25 =24
24 apple goes to each student in room 8

Charlie How are humans polluting the environment

How are humans polluting the environment?
We are learning to use words and phrases that are appropriate to the topic.

Introduction - Humans polluting our Land, Air, And Water. We need to keep our environment healthy looking, otherwise, our environment will die, as well as the animals that live in them.

Air pollution: Air Pollution could cause everyone to have diseases. Air pollution is harmful gases that are poisoning our air. When Cows farts, they fart out methane gas. If you are in a small room with a cow and the cow's farts you may or may not die.

Most of this air pollution we cause results from the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, natural gas, and gasoline to produce electricity and power our vehicles. Carbon dioxide is (CO2). It’s a good source of how much humans have been using fossil fuel. Humans are using to much fossil fuel that took animals thousandths and thousands of year to break down into fossil fuel.

Factories, cars, bus, trucks, and all those vehicles that use fossil fuel. All those vehicles pollute the air with fossil fuel, and it is really bad for humans, and maybe animals.

Charlie Earths Resources 8

Earth’s Resources

We are developing an understanding that water, air, rocks and soil, and life forms make up our planet and recognise that these are also Earth’s resources.

What is a resource? It’s a stock of supply of money, food, to gold, and other staff
What are some natural resources? Examples of natural resources include air, water, soil, plants, animals, raw materials, space, land, wind and energy. Natural resources come from the environment and are not man-made.
What is a renewable resource? A renewable resource is a resource which can be used repeatedly because it is replaced naturally.

Charlie Dominating Division

Dominating Division
We are learning to solve division equations using our multiplication knowledge

45 ➗ 9 = 5
9x5=45

50 ➗ 5 = 10
5x10=50

56 ➗ 7 = 8
7x8=56

30 ➗ 6 =5
3x5=30

120 ➗ 6 =12
6x12=120
75 ➗ 5 = 15
5x15

231 ➗ 7 = 33
7x33=231

891 ➗ 9 =99

9x99=891

Charlie and Trent Art Work - Write4Gold by Vanessa York

Charlie and Trent Write4Gold by Vanessa York

Write4Gold by Vanessa York
We are learning to use visual features to support understanding of the text.

Why is the title of the article ‘Write4Gold’? Because it is about graffiti art competition in Europe.

Is this graffiti illegal? No, because they always do a graffiti competition in Europe.

Can graffiti be considered art? Yes because people can write about their life.

What is your opinion of graffiti? It is cool and amazing because it has graffiti artists and the art is very awesome.

What is the main message of this poem about graffiti? This message is about why graffiti is all right but doing bad things with is is bad.

How did the authors of the poem and article feel about graffiti? They thought that Griffith was an art

If you were designing a graffiti image about the environment, what might you create?
E.g. plastic bags in the shape of a whale. Rubbish so people can throw their wastes in the right bin
Create
EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT IDEAS ABOUT ART. Some of our ideas are influenced by our own perspectives and experience with artistic creation, while others are shaped by our teachers and parents or our visits to museums. But how much have we thought about those ideas? Have we considered them carefully, or are they mostly unconscious? Some artists create art that is completely open to interpretation, while others try to display a message. ]

In political art, the artist may attempt to illustrate their point of view or belief (as the name implies).
See if you can interpret the art pictured below.

Message: I picked this image because in this pic there is a Muslim wearing an American flag on herself because she lives in America and she wants to be happy in America.

This image resent people living ins places
  • This man was saying this was not my dream because he thought there was going be trees everywhere.

We are cutting down trees but now there are just building because we are cutting to trees.
This is a bear wanting to be in a circus because that was his dream.

Why do we need to drink water?

Why do we need to drink water?

The human body needs lots and lots of water to help the body stay healthy and strong.
Water is good for us because it helps us to lose weight, to flush out toxins and to give us good skin.

Water helps our body lose weight and water helps to build up our muscles.
When you drink water the oxygen supply to your cells including your muscles works more efficiently.
Our muscles work harder and longer than usual.

When we drink water, it helps to flush out toxins from our body.
Water helps in boosting immune System.
Water helps in better digestion.
Water also helps in regulating body temperature.

Drinking water improves your skin complexion.
Our skin is 64 percent water.

This is why I think Water is good for you.

Charlie Water Worries

Water Worries by Rachel McMillan
We are learning about the water cycle and its use

Write a brief explanation of the water cycle

  • The sun, which drives the water cycle, heats water in the oceans, rivers, and lakes.
  • Some of this water rises into the air as vapour and because of the water droplets in clouds.
  • Eventually, colder temperatures force the clouds to see to lose their moisture as rain hail, or snow.
  • Some of this flows into rivers and lakes and finally the ocean. Some of it stays frozen as snow or ice for hundreds or even thousands of years. The rest of the water soaks deep into the earth, where it becomes part of the groundwater supply, some of which comes to the surface through springs.

Effects of air pollution

We went on a field trip around the playground and used a clean paper towel to wipe objects and surfaces. This is what we found. The dirt is from air pollution and this affects our breathing
Here is the clean one
