Reading Reflection - One City - Two Earthquakes

This week my reading group and I were reading about One City - Two Earthquakes. My friend and I was reading about the Christchurch earthquake. The first one happened at September 2010 and the next one happened at February 2011. The February earthquake did more damage although the September one had a higher 7.1 magnitude.

How Does Earthquake Form?

How Do Earthquakes Form?

Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs.
Here is a photo I got from google about the Earthquake cracking

Catch That Pizza !!!

One hundred years forward, In the future there were 5 legendary defenders of earth. One was intelligent Robin, Starfire the laser beam, Beast Boy animal like, Cyborg the half robot man, Raven the evil dad.

One day in the TTH (Teen Titans House) Cyborg and Beastboy were ordering pizza but!...
“There were no more pizza at pizza hut.” Cyborg looked at Beastboy and said “The TURTLES”. Cyborg and Beastboy ran and got into the TTC (Teen Titans Car). On the way there Beast Boy transformed into a dog. Beast Boy used his super sense and smelled pizza from the sewers. Cyborg stopped the TTC (Teen Titans Car) and Beast Boy jumped out of the car and transformed into a fearless lion. He roared across to the other side where the turtles were. When the turtles came out, their bellies were Big and fat. One of the turtles name was mighty. Mighty had a slice of pizza halfway up his mouth. Cyborg and Beastboy was having an argument with the turtles because the turtles and then the argument turned into a fight.

While Cyborg and beastboy were fighting with the turtles a crime alert alarm went off and the rest of the Teen Titans team came to stop the fight. Robin stopped the fight and told the turtles to share the pizza and be good friends because they both help save the city.

To be continued?

Maths

webcam-toy-photo1.jpg
This week in Algebra we have been finding and applying rules for patterns. We drew the patterns and continued to the 5th or 6th pattern. We predicted the 10th pattern and in our group we then created a rule for the pattern. The rule for this pattern is
(nx4)+(n-1x2)=
This was a challenging and fun activity.

SunSmart

What causes our skins to go brown and damages our skin?

Today we learnt that ultraviolet radiation that comes from the sun, can burn and damage our skins and cause skin cancer. The worst form of skin cancer is melanoma.

  • When the sun is directly above us in the summer (or daylight-saving) months between 11am and 4pm.
  • Most UV radiation/Ultraviolet Radiation reaches us between 12pm and 2pm

  • If there are thin clouds, or patches of clouds, in the sky UV radiation still reaches us.
  • You can get sunburned on a cloudy day, but not on a day when there are thick storm or rain clouds overhead

Creating a story map is a way to help you understand and summarize the stories you read.  When you make a story map, you identify the basic story elements, such as the characters, setting, conflict, and important plot events.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT MAGNETS

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT MAGNETS

On Monday 29 August 2016 my class and I learned about magnets. What I learned about magnets was really instating. Here are some of the details that my classroom and I learned.

I learned that magnets have a really strong connection. One of the magnets are called bar magnet, and that's looks like this
Image result for bar magnets
The N and S means North and South. If you put North and South its will stick, but if you put North and South together guess what would happened?. They won’t connect?, it's just like WW1. If you are from the same team  you won’t kill your own team mates you will kill the your enemies, just like North and South connecting. Another thing I learned was magnets is strong enough to connect through glass, paper, and metal. There are other types of magnets. The Bar one, The horse shoe one, The Lodestone one and the donuts one.

I have learnt lots about magnets and magnets and more magnets but in the end i have fun.

SCIENCE INTENSIVE

SCIENCE INTENSIVE

Yesterday, 29 August my classmate and teaches had a science intensive. There were 3 active and more but we had no time left. The names of the three games was called Flying high that's the air plane on, The racing track you may have an idar race car, and the last by not least was called the fishing game. In the bottom there are all the facts about magnets and the games

Mrs Moopanar gave us some materials and they were sticks, rubber bands, magnets and a thread. When we all done our experiment we had to try it out. We used the bar magnets to move the horse - shoe magnet that was hanging from the string. It was dancing like it had a invisible dance partner. We did a lot of experiment and they were flying high, the speedway and the fishing game. They were a lot of fun.

I felt interested because I learnt different kinds of magnets and it has a strong connection.
My favourite games was the racing track because I was the champion.
